Solving A Flooding Problem

Over 20 years ago innovative Tim, living in the winery area of Winery at Nagambie, put in the latest solar technology “BP Solar” to establish a plant nursery and garden.  Tim was a pioneer investing in one of the first systems in the Goulburn Valley. As the Goulburn River floods periodically, the unit was installed up the bank. The solar panels were positioned over 100 metres further away to avoid shading. Increasing demands called for a large capacity system.

Keen to upgrade in early 2022 using some existing infrastructure, Tim lost all from the one in a hundred-year flood late October 2022.  Roe & Cook were called upon to provide a new larger Mono system with near double the power.

After installing in March 2023 further flooding in January 2024 caused failure again. This time the pump could be repaired but what about solving the problem when flooding occurs?  Roe & Cook were asked what can be done.  A floating unit on the river was recommended allowing the Mono CP800 surface mounted solar pump to rise and fall with any variation in river levels.

In addition, the control panel was installed high up on a post above the shed level that should mean it will not be affected by future flooding.
